Richard serves as TEAM’s Professional Geologist and Chief Operating Officer for Geologic Services. He is responsible for the geologic field operations and reporting for groundwater monitoring sites throughout the Owens Valley. Richard’s broad experience includes conducting Phase I and II site assessments and investigations, hazardous materials remediation, underground storage tank removal and monitoring, and interfacing with local, state, and federal agencies related to permitting and regulatory compliance.

Richard has particular expertise in assisting clients with groundwater monitoring well installations, groundwater, soil and soil-gas sampling and monitoring programs, as well as the installation, operations and maintenance of various groundwater and soil-gas remediation systems.

Richard joined TEAM in 2017 as a Staff Geologist and earned his California Professional Geologist License in 2020. Prior to TEAM, Richard worked as a Field Geologist with AECOM, responsible for the implementation of a groundwater monitoring program and the operation and maintenance of soil-vapor remediation treatment system at an oil refinery site in Bakersfield, California.

Prior to AECOM, Richard worked as an Engineering Geologist at Gold Coast Geoservices Inc. in Ventura, California, where he was responsible for the drafting of geologic maps and cross-sections, performing slope stability analysis using computer software, designing retaining walls and septic systems, and percolation and compaction testing. Richard’s projects have spanned a wide range including retail gas stations, oil refineries, EPA Superfund sites, landfills, and background studies in remote wilderness areas.

Richard earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a major in Geology with an emphasis on Engineering and Hydrology. After college he worked throughout the state of California with seasonal employment in Alaska, but eventually settled down in the Owens Valley. Richard is an enthusiastic rock climber and mountaineer and can be found exploring the high peaks and deep canyons of the Eastern Sierra during his time off.
