TEAM provides ongoing environmental consulting services to Great Basin Unified Air Pollution Control District (GBUAPCD), in support of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP)-mandated dust control efforts on Owens Lake. In this role, TEAM has effectively coordinated with diverse stakeholders in a complex dust control project with sensitive environmental resources, and helped create a collaborative environment between regulatory agencies, landowners, and local Tribes. Services include evaluation of sensitive biological and cultural resources associated with dust control measures on Owens Dry Lake and serving as a tribal liaison to the GBUAPCD for the Cultural Resource Task Force monitoring committee.
With the support of the GBUAPCD, TEAM has worked with the Tribal Historic Preservation Officers of five local tribes to prepare and submit a National Registry Nomination under the National Historic Preservation Act. This Act recognizes the importance of the archaeological and tribal history of the Patsiata (Owens Lake) Area and paves the way for a more holistic stewardship of cultural resources while ensuring clean air, water, wildlife habitat, and compliance with environmental laws.
