In early 2021 TEAM was asked by Inyo Mono Advocates for Community Action (IMACA) and partner, Visionary Home Builders, to conduct an environmental site assessment for a 2.9- acre parcel of land in Bishop which is proposed for a multi-family, affordable housing development.
The objective was to identify and delineate any potential jurisdictional wetlands on the property in accordance with the Clean Water Act, and to provide a scoping level biological survey. The biological assessment was completed to meet California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) documentation requirements, as requested by the City of Bishop to facilitate project implementation. The wetland delineation was conducted following the protocol established by the Army Corps of Engineers, to integrate previously established mitigation measures. This allowed the project to receive low-income housing funding and approval for construction.
Throughout the project, TEAM biologists and geologists worked closely with a multi-disciplinary group of entities, including the City of Bishop, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and IMACA. As a result of the successful collaboration, coupled with TEAM’s expertise in environmental site assessment and knowledge of environmental regulations, the biological resources and reporting assessment was found sufficient to allow permitting of the development project to support a crucial community housing need.
